This Week on Midweek Politics with David Pakman / January 13th, 2010
Total Running Time: 53:17
MP3 Podcast: Available with entire Midweek Politics Archive for Members
This Week’s Topics:
-Jordan Sekulow, conservative talk radio host, human right attorney, and Director of International Operations for the American Center for Law and Justice joins us live to discuss travel security, his work as an attorney, and more.
–New stations airing Midweek Politics in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Massachusetts.
–Harry Reid’s Obama Negro comments and the subsequent apology, and why the analysis was accurate while Reid still used racist terms.
–We discuss why Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have become de facto apology-takers when it comes to African-Americans, particularly when they themselves have hugely racist pasts.
–Comments on the Harry Reid Negro statement from Governor Tim Kaine, RNC Chairman Michael Steele, and Rod Blagojevich’s own bizarre racist comments.
–The book Game Change by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin and the fascinating stories it tell.
–Bill Clinton’s comments that upset Ted Kennedy, referring to Barack Obama as someone who would have been getting them coffee a few years ago, and Hillary’s desire to push Obama cocaine stories as much as possible, even at the warning of her aides.
–More information indicating Sarah Palin was completely uninformed about a plethora of topics, including basic national security and foreign affairs issues, and the fear that the McCain campaign had that the VP debate would be an unmitigated disaster of epic proportions.
–The revelation that Palin’s request to call Senator Biden Joe during the debate was actually a strategy to prevent her from repeatedly calling him Senator O’Biden, which she still did do once during the debate.
–John McCain claims to have absolutely no idea how or if Sarah Palin was vetted prior to her selection in lieu of Joe Lieberman.
–Barack Obama clearly states that the buck stops with him, and sadly that is not working too well.
–The Jay Leno Conan O’Brien shakeup at NBC, and why television networks make the decisions they do.
–The upcoming Massachusetts election to replace Ted Kennedy in the Senate was a foregone conclusion for some, although many Republicans are saying Scott Brown has a chance to defeat Democrat Martha Coakley. We look at whether this is true, and why anyone would vote for either of these candidates.
–More Fox News errors, this time mislabeling Connecticut Democratic Congressman first as a Republican, and later as a Senator.
–Gay marriage update, with Portugal putting in motion legalization, and a review of where things stand in Europe and the US.
