This Week on Midweek Politics with David Pakman / September 1st, 2010

Total Running Time: 60:00

MP3 Podcast: or download it for later by right-clicking here

This Week’s Topics:

–William Murray, Chairman of the Religious Freedom Coalition in Washington DC joins us to discuss why he is against the Lower Manhattan Community Center, why he claims it is at Ground Zero, is a Mosque, and discusses why he can understand claims that Barack Obama is a Muslim, and we wonder what the remaining troops in Iraq will be doing.

–The iPad giveaway continues, and people wonder if we’ll ship to Singapore.

–Barack Obama’s “out of Iraq” speech contained few surprises, drew varied and amazing criticism from the right involving George W. Bush, family pictures, and more.

–After almost two years of complaining that George W. Bush is mentioned too much when discussing what Barack Obama is and is not doing, conservative are angry that George W. Bush’s actions prior to Obama taking office were not discussed enough during Obama’s speech.

–During a story about poor treatment of US troops, instead of focusing on poor pay, poor post-war treatment, or sending troops into preemptive dubious wars, Fox News chooses to focus on the unlikely possibility that some troops will not receive their absentee ballots.

–Judge Andrew Napolitano refers to Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann as a well-known expert on the constitution, and we wonder what it says about Andrew Napolitano.

–Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally in Washington DC, including Beck’s fixation on Martin Luther King, the overall boring nature of the entire rally, Beck weeping during his speech, and more.

–Sarah Palin showed up at the Restoring Honor rally as well, and we can be sure she did plenty of refudiating, while Glenn Beck thanked God for a $600,000 donation made to the rally.

–North Korea gets a Facebook account, claims to like men, and posts incredible videos including dogs at a North Korean zoo with bizarre music, and incredible techno music over a North Korean cityscape. We wonder if North Korean likes men as a sign of misogyny, or as an indication the country is itself homosexual.

–A New York cabbie is stabbed after being asked by 21-year-old Michael Enright whether he is a Muslim, and we look at the entire story including possible connections to recent media outrage over the so-called Ground Zero Mosque, responsible commentary from Joe Scarborough, and the expected denials from Fox News and Laura Ingraham.

–New station airing Midweek Politics in New York and Ohio.

–A fascinating voicemail left on the Midweek Politics line from a woman claiming David Pakman is both a complete idiot, and intelligent and handsome, as well as a handwritten letter that we cannot tell if is real or a parody.

–The pro-anti producer Louis discussion continues with emails flooding in from both sides of the argument, plus email about the Best of the Left Podcast, Walid Shoebat, and more.

This Week on Midweek Politics with David Pakman / August 25th, 2010

Total Running Time: 60:00

MP3 Podcast: or download it for later by right-clicking here

This Week’s Topics:

–Walid Shoebat, the former Palestinian terrorist who is against the building of the Ground Zero Mosque/Lower Manhattan Community Center, joins us live to discuss how close is too close for him, the background of Feisal Abdul Rauf, Arabic recordings, and more.

–Midweek Politics 5 years anniversary and iPad giveaway

–Concerns from the audience about Louis as sidekick and producer.

–Primary election results, including Kendrick Meek’s win in Florida, John McCain holding off JD Hayworth in Arizona, Ben Quayle winning, the Florida situation involving Mark Rubio and Charlie Crist, and the Alaska contest between Lisa Murkowski and Joe Miller.

–Now that President Obama has pulled enough troops out to get below the 50,000 mark, is this really the end of the Iraq war? What would it take for the US to go back in? Plus, John McCain says Bush deserves credit for the end of the war, and media coverage of the drawdown varied greatly depending on who was reporting.

–Fox News continues to dominate the cable news ratings, and we discuss why this might be, as well as go over the million dollar donation controversy from Fox News to the Republican Governors Association, including the ad that Media Matters wants to run on Fox News during The O’Reilly Factor.

–Exploring the connection between Fox News, News Corporation’s major shareholder Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, whose money was refused by Rudy Giuliani after 9/11, and the so-called Ground Zero Mosque.

–Doctor Laura and Al Sharpton followup, including why some listeners are calling David Pakman the racist.

–Sarah Palin “supports” Doctor Laura, and we try to figure out what that means, and why both Sarah and Laura seem to be very confused about the First Amendment.

–In a bizarre turn of events, the same Pat Buchanan who previously dabbled in Holocaust denial, complained of too many Jews on the Supreme Court, and claimed whites were losing their country to Hispanics, claims that Newt Gingrich went too far in his comment about Nazis when discussing the Ground Zero Mosque.

–Yet another act of domestic terrorism in the US, and we discuss why domestic right wing terror is presumed to be “lone gunmen” and “isolated incidents,” while individual foreigners committing similar acts are referred to as terrorists in the context of the Global War on Terror.

–Last week’s poll about the Ground Zero Mosque, a new poll about the “end” of the war in Iraq, plus emails about a racist real estate incident in Chicago, scammers on religious cable channel INSP, Alvin Greene, Ben Quayle, and more.

Total Running Time: 60:00

MP3 Podcast: or download it for later by right-clicking here

This Week’s Topics:

–Mike Papantonio, attorney and host of Ring of Fire Radio, joins us live to discuss the aftermath of the BP oil spill, the Ground Zero Mosque controversy, the Proposition 8 ruling, the recent oil discovery in Afghanistan, and much more.

–Tyler Boudreau, Iraq war veteran and former Marine, joins us in studio to discuss his time in the military, his hesitations about the war in Iraq, his time overseas, and much more. The full interview is available on the Midweek Politics Members Podcast.

–David is running a 5K for cancer research in Boston and you can sponsor him through the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.

–Doctor Laura Schlessinger’s recent n-word rant, including the original phone call into her radio show, her response, using the n-word multiple times, the argument with the caller, and Doctor Laura’s subsequent apology.

–We wonder why racist Al Sharpton is again brought in as the arbiter of racist incidents, who appointed him, and more.

–Doctor Laura’s appearance on Larry King where she says she is leaving radio, and why we think it is more likely she will be back after quietly renewing her contract, maybe even with a black co-host in Imus fashion.

–A white couple in Illinois is charged for refusing to sell their home to a black couple.

–The INSP cable channel is filled with snake oil salesmen asking people for thousand-dollar seeds which they will get back from God 100 times over within 90 days.

–South Carolina Senate hopeful Alvin Greene is indicted on obscenity charges for showing a college student pornography, and he loses all control when a reporter goes to his house to find out whether he will stay in the race.

–Ben Quayle is running for Congreesman from Arizona, and his campaign commercials claim both that Barack Obama is the worst President in history, and that he was “raised right,” presumably by his father, former Vice President Dan Quayle. We look at Ben’s former jobs, including writing for a porno website, the family pictures he took for his campaign with children who were not actually his, and revisit some of his father’s best quotes.

–Follow up on the Prop 8 debate, including hilarious information from Jeremy Hooper over at Good As You which shows, contrary to what the Family Research Council told us last week, the FRC does get involved in the bestiality conspiracies related to gay marriage, plus follow up on the Steven Slater JetBlue incident.

-Last week’s poll about BP cleaning up the oil spill, a new poll this week about Barack Obama commenting the Ground Zero Mosque controversy,

This Week on Midweek Politics with David Pakman / August 11th, 2010

Total Running Time: 60:00

MP3 Podcast: or download it for later by right-clicking here

This Week’s Topics:

–Abbie Goldberg, psychology professor and renowned expert on lesbian and gay parenting, and Tom McClusky, Vice President of Government Affairs at the Family Research Council, join us live for a debate about the moral and legal validity of Judge Vaughn Walker’s overturning of Proposition 8 in California, gay marriage, gay parenting, and much more.

–A look at the upcoming 2010 election, including the addition of a third Tea Party candidate in Ken Buck, results from Colorado, and Charlie Rangel’s indictment and refusal to resign.

–The hilarious John Boehner billboard put up by Blue America in Ohio, as well as the bizarre skin color that Boehner is now sporting.

–What would scare ads sound like about John Boehner and other politicians?

–A recent birther poll shows over one in four Americans still think Barack Obama was not born in the United States, and Rush Limbaugh seems to be part of that bandwagon.

–An incredible interview from a listener about the birther Orly Taitz interview, professionalism, and more.

–We call Target for an interview to discuss their large donation to an anti-gay candidate, and do not get very far, but we play both the phone call to Target and the voicemail we received from Target spokesperson Jessica Carlson, as well as plenty of other information about anti-gay donations and opinions coming from the Target CEO, his family, and the Target executive staff.

–Rush Limbaugh and William Shatner debate healthcare in a bizarre interview, and we discuss whether morals can really be removed from the healthcare discussion.

–A hilarious Fox News style ambush gone wrong by Spencer Meads, who cannot seem to stop rubbing his nose, sniffing, and mumbling when confronted by Media Matters employee Ari Rabin-Havt while trying to talk about George Soros to Media Matters employees.

–Senator Ted Stevens is killed in a small plane crash in Alaska, and David Pakman worries about his upcoming small plane flight.

–JetBlue flight attendant Steven Slater abandons his job by swearing at a passenger, grabbing a couple of beers, deploying the emergency exit chute, and sliding down it, and we wonder whether someone who cites carryon baggage as a pet peeve should really be working as a flight attendant.

–Sean Hannity suggests that to annoy liberals, he asks for two plastic bags at the supermarket, and Jedidiah Bila complains about the more expensive cost to supermarkets of phasing out plastic bags while not mentioning the additional cost of Hannity’s two bag plan.

–BP claims the oil spill is essentially almost all fixed up, saying three quarters of the oil and dispersants have been cleaned up, and we wonder if anybody believes that.

–Audience emails about the Terry Jones Koran-burning interview, Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s theory about women turning to lesbianism as they age, a racist email in response to a racist voicemail, and more, as well as new stations airing Midweek Politics.

This Week on Midweek Politics with David Pakman / August 4th, 2010

Total Running Time: 60:00

MP3 Podcast: or download it for later by right-clicking here

This Week’s Topics:

–Terry Jones from Dove World Outreach Center joins us live to discuss why his church plans to burn Korans on the upcoming 9/11 anniversary, and why all Jews, homosexuals, and Muslims are going to hell.

–Clips from David Pakman’s sit down interview with Congressman Dennis Kucinich in Cleveland, Ohio.

–Clips from David Pakman’s sit down interview with former CIGNA VP and health insurance whistleblower Wendell Potter from Cleveland, Ohio.

–Stories from producer Louis’ band’s heavy metal concert, a new column by David Pakman, and upcoming changes on Midweek Politics.

–Incredible audio and video of Tennessee GOP Gubernatorial candidate Basil Marceaux, and we wonder whether it could possibly be real, how a parody would look any different, and compare it to the Miss South Carolina answer which David Pakman presents as a monologue.

–Followup on the recent interview with Peter LaBarbera from Americans for Truth About Homosexuality, including press coverage of the interview, discussion of it on Sirius Radio’s Michaelangelo Signorile show, and emails from the audience about the interview.

–Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s fascinating analysis of why women tend to become lesbians as they get older.

–One of the most racist emails ever heard is left on the answering machine of the NAACP, and we have cleaned it up with enough bleeps to play it on the air.

–We look at Whoopi Goldberg’s long history of defending criminals, racists, and others, including Mel Gibson, Roman Polanski, Helen Thomas, and Michael Vick.

–David Brooks, from DHB Industries, is being prosecuted for a number of corruption related charges, as well as asking his veterinarian for a pill that would erase a potential witnesses’ memory for him before a potential trial. We wonder whether former Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez must have been given that same pill before his infamous testimony where he simply could not remember a thing.

–Essence Magazine hires its first non-black fashion director, and Michaela Angela Davis, their former fashion editor goes nuts. We discuss what is racist, what is reverse-racist, and more.

–Is Glenn Becks commentary about the Tides Foundation responsible for inciting Byron Williams to try to attack the group in California, and the shootout that results with California Highway Patrol?

–Last week’s poll on the political orientation of the country, a new poll on Glenn Beck and inciting attempted murder, an unintelligible voicemail, and many emails about faith healing in Oregon and Mike Huckabee discussing the “end times” with Tim Lahaye.

This Week on Midweek Politics with David Pakman / July 28th, 2010

Total Running Time: 60:00

MP3 Podcast: or download it for later by right-clicking here

This Week’s Topics:

–Peter LaBarbera, President of American’s for Truth Against Homosexuality, joins us live to discuss his boycott of McDonald’s for “encouraging young homosexuality,” his photographing of gay and fetish events in San Francisco, his idea that gay marriage will open the door to three-way marriages, why he is too extreme even for other anti-gay groups to support, and more, including his repeat claims that our producer should have told him that Midweek Politics is pro-gay. Behind-the-scenes discussion of the leadup to the interview included on the Midweek Politics Membership Program.

–Bill Scher, Online Manager at Campaign for America’s Future and Host of the Liberal Oasis Radio Show Podcast joins us live in studio to discuss his trip to Las Vegas for Netroots Nation, how Barack Obama is doing, and the entire Shirley Sherrod – Andrew Breitbart scandal.

–Midweek Politics with David Pakman launches nationally on Free Speech TV, including DirecTV and DISH Network.

–The Shirley Sherrod scandal, including the original edited video published by Andrew Breitbart to suggest Sherrod is racist, as well as the subsequently released full video which seems to imply the opposite.

–Andrew Breitbart’s past direct statement that he would like to take down the liberal left, of which he considers the NAACP a part, as well as his claim that although the NAACP publicly denounces racism, its members are, in private, actually racist.

–The United States, on almost every issue, is a liberal, not center-right nation, and we go through why the connotation associated with the word “liberal” have created a situation in which an overwhelmingly liberal country calls itself, on the whole, conservative.

–After denying rumors that BP CEO Tony Hayward was thinking about resigning, BP has announced Tony Hayward has resigned. We wonder why some are “relieved” that his replacement is Bob Dudley, the man who started the downhill perception of BP after telling Anderson Cooper that it does not matter how much oil is leaking into the Gulf.

–Two new oil spills, one in Michigan and another in Louisiana.

–Faith healing in Oregon continues, with Alayna Wyland being taken away from her parents who chose to pray for her and deliberately leave her without medical care for a hemangioma around her eye, which has created a tennis ball sized growth around her left eye. The Wylands are from the Followers of Christ church in Oregon City, Oregon, a church from which 20 children have died from treatable illnesses during the last three decades as a result of their parents choosing to pray instead of get medical treatment.

–Mike Huckabee and “Doctor” Tim LaHaye discuss the end times and the apocalypse, which naturally are being brought on by the Obama administration.

–Emails about why the happiest countries often have the highest suicide rates, gay marriage being legalized in Argentina, three way marriages and marriages to animals as a result of legalizing gay marriage, and much more.

MP3 Podcast: or download it for later by right-clicking here

This Week’s Topics:

–Robert Peters, President of the conservative group Morality in Media, joins us live to discuss the recent ruling on FCC expletive and indecency rules, including his desire for there not to be any profanity, indecency, or blasphemy of any kind on broadcast media.

–Angry emails from listeners, insulting David Pakman for being from Argentina, and much more.

–The Mark Williams Tea Party racism Abraham Lincoln letter controversy, and his email exchange with Midweek Politics related to being interviewed on the show, as well as claims that it is impossible for there to be racism in the Tea Party.

–An incredible video of an anti-wizardry religious individual flipping out about Henry Potter and Two-light books and movies, and blaming bad things on science fiction and fantasy books and movies and of course the Jews.

–Sarah Palin makes up the word refudiate, and then compares herself to Shakespeare for making up words.

–An apology to Ed Kowalski over immigration comments.

–Arizona and the Republican Party choosing to pick on what will eventually be the largest ethnic group in the country couldn’t possibly backfire, could it?

–Gay marriage legalized in David Pakman’s home country of Argentina, while many conservatives still think gay marriage opens the door to three way marriages and people marrying animals.

–In addition to Uganda’s currently pending “kill gays” legislation, Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe has restated his opposition to homosexuality, comparing gays and lesbian to dogs and pigs.

–Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Well God created both at the same time, of course. British Scientists, however, believe it is the chicken.

–We look at the list of happiest countries, ask whether money buys happiness, and wonder why many of the happiest countries also have the highest suicide rates.

–We learn that the Congressional Cigar Association is actually a front for lobbyists, and discuss what about cigars is so attractive to conservatives, even though it was Bill Clinton who brought the cigar back into the media landscape some years ago.

–John McCain says paying teachers is pork, but wants to give Raytheon and other defense contracts shipping jobs overseas a tax break.

–Producer Louis chooses which of 5 politically incorrect and immoral investments he would make if he had to choose one.

–New poll, emails about Mel Gibson and the French Burqa ban.

MP3 Podcast: or download it for later by right-clicking here

This Week’s Topics:

–Former Congressman (R-OH) Bob Ney joins us live to discuss his thoughts on fellow conspirator Jack Abramoff being released from prison, his own thoughts on his time in a federal prison, and more.

–Marguerite Cravatt, who filmed the viral video that shows a police officer corralling her away from where BP oil spill cleanup efforts were taking place, and an employee was being taking away by ambulance, joins us live to talk about just what happened that day and just who is controlling police departments in the Gulf area.

–The newest Mel Gibson racist anti-black rant, following up his previous anti-Semitic and anti-gay commentary, including the recording itself, Whoopi Goldberg’s bizarre statement that Mel Gibson is not a racist, and more. Is this Mel’s best performance yet?

–The World Cup and homophobia…how on earth did Spain, a country that allows gay marriage, manage to win a World Cup?

–The Canyon Ridge Christian Church in Las Vegas is lending help to the anti-gay Ugandan pastor who wants death penalty and life in prison as punishments for various types of homosexual activity.

–The Catholic Church has become a morally bankrupt organization, now planning to include the ordination of women clergy in the same category of sin as priest pedophilia and rape.

–Is the new tan tax racist? Would the Botox tax have been sexist?

–We consider whether the Dunning-Kruger effect might be the reason so many people are unable to understand counter-arguments to flawed political thinking.

–We consider the possibility that the only reason Michael Steele has not been fired by the GOP as their Chairman is fear of racism accusations.

–Did David Vitter’s campaign for Senate re-election jump the shark now that he has said he supports birther type legal challenges about Barack Obama’s citizenship?

–CNS News’ Fred Lucas and Robert Gibbs get into it over weirdly phrased and delivered questions regarding Donald Berwick, healtchare, and secret comment books.

–France takes an important first vote towards passing a Burqa ban, and while David Pakman agrees with it, producer Louis Motamedi does not.

–New stations airing Midweek Politics in Vermont and Wisconsin, a new poll about the Burqa ban, and emails about Republicans supporting the troops, Sharron Angle’s comments that rape and incest are God’s plan, and on electric cars and the upcoming Chevy Volt.

This Week on Midweek Politics with David Pakman / July 7th, 2010

Total Running Time: 60:00

MP3 Podcast: or download it for later by right-clicking here

This Week’s Topics:

–Conservative author and commentator SE Cupp joins us live to discuss her book Losing Our Religion: The Liberal Media’s Attack on Christianity, including her claims that the Tea Party got poor coverage on news networks, that most media are anti-Christian and liberally biased, and much more.

–GOP Chairman Michael Steele says that Afghanistan was a war of Barack Obama’s choosing, and we wonder how much longer Steele will last, whether we are seeing a rift in the Republican Party, and how on earth someone could think that Afghanistan is Obama’s war.

–Homophobic Tony Perkins of the Family Research Center is called in as a minority witness against Supreme Court nominee Elana Kagan, and we wonder why it is necessary for a man who stated that the only reason we would allow gays in the military would be if we wanted them to “do parades and stuff” to testify at a Supreme Court hearing.

–More of Tony Perkin’s past statements, and a discussion of whether there is a double standard when it comes to hateful testimony and homosexuality.

–Followup on the ICR creationism science degree story, including countless angry emails from the audience to producer Louis about his thoughts on theories, and an unbelievable clip from a BBC documentary on creationism at a school in Tennessee.

–Larry King will step down from his CNN program, and we go through some of his most awkward, bizarre, and hilarious moments during interviews, including clips related to Roman Polanski, Eric Massa, Lady Gaga, Usher, Jerry Seinfeld, the Beatles, Andre Agassi, and one of the funniest, Miss California Carrie Prejean.

–Might Sharron Angle be the most dangerous political candidate in 2010? We talk about it, and her comments that abortions should not take place in any cases, even when rape and incest are involved, since rape and incest are God’s plan.

–If you were hoping to get one of the fully-electric Chevrolet Volt’s that are coming out soon, don’t hold your breath, since only 10,000 will be produced in the first year.

–New stations in Phoenix and Massachusetts, and a new poll about creationism degrees.

–Emails about our recent interview with Rabbi David Nesenoff, who filmed Helen Thomas making the controversial comments about Israel.

This Week on Midweek Politics with David Pakman / June 30th, 2010

Total Running Time: 60:00

MP3 Podcast: or download it for later by right-clicking here

This Week’s Topics:

–Rabbi David Nesenoff, the man who infamously taped Helen Thomas’ comments about how Jews should get the hell ouf of Israel and go back to Poland, Germany, and other countries, joins us live to discuss whether the viral video is missing context, what happened after the interview, his involvement with Mel Gibson’s anti-Semitic rants, and more. Nesenoff states clearly that Helen Thomas is an anti-Semite, but refuses to say that Mel Gibson is.

–David Pakman’s trip to Argentina, including World Cup watching, a different standard for what is liberal, an attempted mugging, and more.

–Updates on Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Stanley McChrystal David Petraeus switch, and difficulty answering the question of why we are currently in Afghanistan.

–For the tenth time, US forces have captured the number 3 Al-Qaeda official.

–The oil spill has passed even more horrific milestones, and Bill Clinton is being criticized for the same suggestion David Pakman made months ago of blowing up the leaking well.

–Michelle Bachmann, in an unprecedented example of hypocrisy coming shortly after considering the US Census to be too intrusive, criticizes the Obama administration for not intruding completely and taking full control of the oil spill from day 1.

–Halliburton is pouring money into the campaigns of Congress members who are investigating the oil spill, but surely it must just be coincidence.

–The Elena Kagan Supreme Court confirmation hearings, her expected speedy confirmation, and what might hold it up.

–An interesting story involving recent Midweek Politics interviewee John Bonifaz, Elana Kagan, conservative blogs, and a campaign donation.

–The Institute for Creation Research Graduate School is no longer allowed to award Masters of Science degrees to students based on the lack of foundation in what they teach after moving from California to Texas.

–Former Arizona Congressman JD Hayworth participates in an infomercial for National Grants Conferences, one of the free government money types, and even the most cursory internet research quickly turns up that it is a scam.

–Gretchen Carlson on the Fox News Channel morning show hilariously suggests that her job as a new anchor is the same as President Obama’s.

–A school mural in Prescott, Arizona had the skin color of the depicted children lightened as the result of racist complaints from Prescott City Councilman Steve Blair, who goes out of his way to talk about how he is not racist, but cannot stand the word diversity.

–New stations in Washington, Indiana, and Mexico airing Midweek Politics.

–Last week’s poll about the oil spill, and a new poll about Elena Kagan.

–Emails about David Pakman’s interview with Cenk Uygur from The Young Turks, the controversial interview with Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, and much more.
