Interviews - Medea Benjamin - Code Pink
/ Global Exchange - September 6, 2006
Medea Benjamin is a
well-known U.S. political activist. Benjamin is Founding Director of the
San Francisco-based NGO Global Exchange, which advocates "fair trade"
alternatives to corporate globalization. She is a cofounder of feminist
anti-military, anti-war group Code Pink: Women for Peace, which
advocates an end to the Iraq War, the prevention of future wars, and
social justice. Benjamin has also been involved with the anti-war
organization United for Peace and Justice.
She discusses her recent nationwide headlines when she was thrown out of
the US Capitol for protesting at the Iraqi Prime Minister's speech, as
well as whether protests overall are the right way to get the anti-war
message out, or if they do more harm than good.
